While speaking at the 2010 Buffalo Book Fair, I had the privilege and honor of meeting the 58th Mayor of Buffalo,
Byron Brown and expressing how much I enjoyed my visit to the Buffalo Book Fair. I visited downtown Buffalo on a beautiful
and Saturday afternoon, July 10th and saw a city that is vibrant, energetic and setting the pace for literacy in Western New
York State.
The Buffalo & Erie County library is
an impressive building, one of the hosts of the event, and the people are warm and show visitors a hospitality that rivals
any major city. This was an experience that I will always cherish.
Jennifer Parker and the Buffalo Book Festival Committee did a wonderful job for the authors and all people who love the written
word in Western New York State.
I was asked to speak
twice during the day, and it was an extraordinary experience!
I was a member of a panel: "Why We Write" with moderator Gary Ross, Priscilla Hill, Sharon Green, Marilyn
Foote-Kragbe and Eunice Toussaint at the Author's Showcase Tent.
Later in the afternoon, I gave a 25-minute presentation at the Literary Cafe on my two novels, A Brownstone In Brooklyn
and Philly Style and Philly Profile. One listener gave me a fantastic response when she said my books were "Lyrical"
and really pulled the reader into the book.
What a fantastic
Experience in Buffalo, New York!
